We are deeply committed to creating a safe, fun, and engaging space for children's spirtual formation!
Students from3 years old up to and including 5th gradersare invited to a lively, creative time of worship and learning during our church service each week. Older kids are encouraged to stay for the sermon, but are welcome in Sunday school! Students are escorted to class during the middle of the service and return at the end of the service. We ask first time visitors to escort your child to meet the teachers & fill out a Child Contact Form.
Our Sunday school classes are split into two classes.
3 yrs - 1st Grade. We ask that Children be reliably potty-trained otherwise our Nursery is available on the first floor . This age group meets in Room 1 on the basement level. This room is geared toward children who are learning but are not yet reading.
1st - 5th Grade. This classroom is geared toward kids with some reading ability. They meet in Room 1 on the basement level.
Holidays: On holiday weekends Sunday School typically does not meet so children (and their teachers!) can participate in the worship service with their loved ones.
Nursery care is available year round on Sunday Mornings for those who would like to use it - although we enjoy seeing babies in worship service, too! Nursery care is available for little ones through age 3.
We are staffed with 2 caregivers at all times and offer a wide range of engaging and age-appropriate toys and books in our dedicated Nursery area. Most Sundays, we read a Bible story with the children that is coordinated with the Sunday School program so the little ones can learn, too!
There is a baby changing station in the Nursery bathroom and an additional baby changing station and rocking chair perfect for nursing in the unisex bathroom.
We do not permit parents or caregivers to drop children off and leave our site. We ask that you remain at Sunnyside the entire time your children are in the nursery.
Fun for all ages! We value learning and serving alongside the children we love. Our Family Events are designed to offer families and households of all shapes and sizes opportunities to spend time together learning about God's love - like during our Communion Bread Baking day - or sharing God's love through serving others - as we do each year during Change the World Day where we do community service projects- or having a fun time together in all seasons like at the Peace House STOMP Square Dance, sledding, biking, hiking or playing games. Family Events are typically held monthly - sign up for emails or check our bulletin for details.
